This Sunday is the thirty-third day of the Omer counting, also known as "Lag B'Omer." It is the yahrtzeit of the Tanna and author of the Zohar, Rebbe Shimon bar Yochai. It is a day of tremendous celebration, prayer and tzedaka for the entire Jewish people all over the world, and especially in Meron, his resting place in the Upper Galilee facing Tsfat. Between 400,000 to 500,000 Jews from every conceivable background flow through Meron on Lag B'Omer! Such is the drawing power of Rebbe Shimon.
From the time of Rebbe Shimon, it has been known that Meron and Tsfat are a single entity. It is also known that Rebbe Shimon and Rebbe Nachman are the same soul. It is further known that the spiritual power of Rebbe Shimon is so great, that it is worthwhile to rely on his merit if you find yourself in dire circumstances and need a miracle.
